Retired Norwalk Police Officer John Buchholz, of Broome County, in Endicott, New York, died on Thursday, Feb. 24, said Norwalk Police Department Chief Kulhawik.
Buchholz joined the Norwalk Police Department in August 1975 and served for 21 years until his retirement in Nov. 1996.
In addition to the many accolades he received over the course of his career for outstanding police and investigative work, Buchholz was recognized for his participation in bringing a burglary case to a successful close: he apprehended two suspects who were charged with larceny, the chief said.
"It is with sadness that we share this announcement," said Kulhawik. "We offer our sincerest condolences to John's wife, Teri, and John's friends and family, on the loss of their loved one."
